A Case of metastatic Carcinoma of the Skin

Abstract
|
|
|
A case of 40 year-old man with metastatic carcinoma which was compatible with carcinoma en cuirasse clinically is presented. In September 1967, he noticed a small lump in the left axilla and the left side of the neck with edematous swelling of the left anterior axillary fold.
Eight months later, the dirty grayish brown, thick crusts and hard indurated nodular masses with various sized bullae appeared over the sclerotic skin on the left side of the cheek, the chin, the neck and the chest.
The result of the biopsy from the skin lesion showed the poorly differentiated carcinoma probably originating from the stomach, the lung or the colon.
Upper G. I. series revealed a tumor mass on the body of the stomach and skull series showed few, round radiolucent spots on the left parieto-frontal area.
The other radiological studies such as chest P-A, K.U.B. , I. V. P. and liver scanning were free from abnormal finding.
